T. Haynes Lighting is a lighting consultancy and distributor serving the Bay Area's commercial and residential market. We don't operate a showroom — instead, Josh and his team work directly with developers, contractors, designers, and homeowners, coming to you when the project calls for it.

With access to virtually every major lighting manufacturer in the world, we source everything from high-volume commercial fixtures to one-of-a-kind handcrafted imports. Our value isn't just the product — it's everything that surrounds it: the right specification, verified availability, coordinated logistics, and a point of contact who stays on top of your order through to final delivery.

We serve commercial projects including hospitality, multi-unit residential, tenant improvements, capital improvements for HOAs and building owners, restaurants, and small businesses. We also work with contractors, designers, and homeowners on high-end residential builds throughout San Francisco, Marin, the Peninsula, and the East Bay.

The Story

T. Haynes Lighting was founded in 1997 by Luis Pine, named after his wife. Luis had spent the previous decade building deep expertise in the San Francisco lighting industry — first at a showroom on Van Ness Avenue in SOMA, then recruited to one of the city's leading lighting showrooms — before going into business for himself.

His goal was to offer something the big showrooms couldn't: a more personal, more attentive service built around the client's project, not a sales floor.

His son Josh joined the business in 2007 and has led it ever since. Josh brought a characteristic rigor to the craft — spending years studying electrical fundamentals, lighting technology, and the documented effects of different light sources on human perception and behavior.

That depth of knowledge, combined with the manufacturer relationships and industry reputation Luis built over decades, is what T. Haynes Lighting brings to every project today.

Josh leads a small team and remains the primary point of contact for clients.
